What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit on his followers…then later he told them “tarry in Jerusalem until you are endoed with the power from on high.”  My goodness they already had the Holy Spirit what does this mean?  There is a 2nd blessing or baptism known as the baptism of the Spirit.  When the Holy Spirit comes upon you…that’s an anointing to do the supernatural in Jesus name.  Jesus had the Holy Spirit come upon him, the 120 in the upper room had the Holy Spirit come upon them as tongues of fire, Paul had the Holy Spirit come upon him when Ananias layed hands on him and he was filled with the Spirit.  I personally experienced this when Evangelist Terence Rose layed hands on me….I received power and ability instantly. You can too!

How do I receive the baptism?
Ask and it shall be given unto you…..seek and you will find.  The first way to receive is to ask yourself.  I would also add it is scriptural to have someone already filled with the Holy Spirit lay hands on you too.

What about the gifts of the Spirit?
1 Corinthians 12 tells us the Holy Spirit has 9 gifts he wants to give us, and Paul tells us not to be ignorant of these gifts.  The 9 include word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, miracles, gifts of healings, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, and interpretation of the tongues.  These gifts are in use more today, right now than in the days of the apostles!  There are more spirit filled believers now than ever before….all operating in the gifts.

What is the gift of tongues all about?
Tongues is a heavenly language that satan cannot decipher.  It's a praise language and a prayer language.  It can be a tremendous edifier for the Spirit man and woman inside you.  You receive tongues by asking, you can also receive while praising God…or when crying out to God.  Satan fears tongues more than any of the 9 gifts…that’s why he works so hard against it. "I have seen the gift of tongues work miraculously when all else failed".

Who interprets the tongue?
Tongues doesn’t need interpretation unless it’s used in a corporate environment.  When tongues are used in church…..the person speaking the tongue (first and foremost) should interpret (1 Corinthians 14) then if he or she can’t…after 3 times speaking out with no interpretation he or she should sit down and be silent.  I call it the 3 strikes and you’re out rule. "When ministering one on one interpretation is not required".

What is slain in the Spirit?
When the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon you…many times you will melt to the floor.  This is the most peaceful feeling you may ever experience.
I was first slain in the Spirit in 2001 and it changed my entire life and my ministry.  John Wesley states..”while continuing in prayer at 3am…the Holy Spirit came upon us in so much as we could not stand and many feel to the floor.”
I have had the privilege of praying for many and seeing the power of the Holy Spirit send them gently to the floor….I might add marked change in each and every one of them spiritually. "Many times in the old and new Testament, the Bible refers to men becoming "like" dead men. I believe this could be a reference to what is now called "slain in the Spirit" or "resting in the Lord"."

What do the Methodist think about the charismatic movement?

You bet… in the past few years we have seen Jesus open deaf ears, heal teeth, hands, knees, diseases….headaches, and depression to mention a few. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is gifts of healings. This means many healings. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, scripture says you can pray for others or yourself to be healed.

James 5 says ….call for the elders…let them anoint with oil….and the prayer of faith will save and the Lord will raise them up. 

Mark 16…those who believe will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.  It has never changed.  Faith healing works!

Doesn’t everyone make it to heaven?
The Bible is clear, without faith in Jesus all are doomed to hell.  It’s sad but true.  God has provided a way for us not to get what we deserve-eternal torment in hell. God loves you so much He provided a way for you to spend eternity with Him. John 3:16 says "Whosoever believeth in Jesus will be saved".

I’m not sold on this new praise and worship music?
Well brother I am!  I was in a church and the newest song in the book was 1943.  The Bible says sing to the Lord a new song…if you haven’t had a new one since 1943 that’s sad indeed.  Every song in your church hymnal was at one time a new song.  Modern praise and worship songs are 99% scripture sung!  There isn’t a better way to worship in my opinion.  God inhabits the praises of his people…praise Him and He will show up. This doesn't mean other forms of Christian music isn't praise. Praise is an attitude of the heart, not a form of music.

Can demons get in Christians and the church?
You bet….Jesus cast out demons in the church.  Christians are saved yes….but they can still have open doors of sin in their lives and it allows demonic entry.  Jesus in Revelations 2..names 3 evil spirits in the church….Jezebel, Balaam, and Nicolaitan spirit.  As long as people have sin in their lives….and as long a churches have sinful people in them demons will be there too.
 
How do I get rid of evil spirits?
Accept Jesus…confess sin….command them to go in Jesus name.  Begin to know what Gods word says about sin, and the authority you have to cast out demons.  

Mark 16 : 17
These signs will follow those who believe in My Name they will cast out demons.

If there is a sin in your life that you cannot control, you need deliverance. "I believe the ultimate goal of a demon is self-destruction."

I have heard groups that meet in secret are bad and lead to curses.
God says do nothing in secret…nuff said!  Sinful curses taken oaths of membership in secret societies….is occult activity.  It opens the doors for every curse mentioned in Deuteronomy 28.  Most every oath taken by these groups are pagan in origin.  Call me and I can tell you many stories of healings that occurred when these secret society memberships were renounced. Many people are surprised to learn iniation into these secret societies and iniation to witchcraft and satanic worship parallel each other. Any organization that meets in secret is by definition (occultic).

Ephesians 5:11, 12
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

What is the unpardonable sin?
I feel its attributing a work of God to satan….the scripture that mentions it…happens just after Jesus healed a man…and the powers that be….tried to say he healed using satans power…Jesus then talks about the unpardonable sin.  I’d be real careful on declaring things you don’t understand….like tongues….slain in the Spirit etc….as a work of the devil…they surely are not.

But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."
Mark 3:28-30 (in Context) Mark 3 (Whole Chapter) Luke 12:10
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

How can I be protected from evil?
Accept Christ, apply the blood of Jesus over you and your family and your belongings when you pray…read Gods word and apply it!  Resist the devil and he will flee from you the good book says.

1 Peter 5: 8-9
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

What does charismatic mean?
It means we believe in the sovereign power of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and we believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The word actually relates to the word "gift", this relates directly to the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

What is the fivefold ministry?
…Jesus gave some to the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.  These five gifts should be operating in every church today. The easiest way I have found to recognize the fivefold ministry is your hand:

Thumb: Apostle-the only part of your hand that touches all four other fingers.
Pointer finger: prophet: he points the way
Middle finger: evangilist: reaches the farthest distance.
Ring finger: paster: married to the church
Pinkie: teacher

These five offices should operate in every church today.

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers


What does the bible say about denominations?
Man created denominations…God didn’t!  You will never see Methodist, Baptists, or Pentecostals listed by religion in the Bible.  Find a church that preaches the word…and operates in the gifts. Look for a church that can use the giftings God has placed in you also.

How can I be saved?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ…repent of your sins!
Simply ask Jesus to come into your life….pledge you full believe in Him as Lord and Savior…repent (change your mind) about the sin in your life.  Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world….He came to same it…

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What can I do today to make God love me more?
Absolutely nothing!  God loves you with an unending love…He knew you before you were born….He wants to spend the rest of time with you in His heaven.  God will accept you even if the world will not! Do not believe the lies of Satan. You are important to the Kingdom of God! God has a plan and a purpose for your life!
